So I have some good news.

And maybe some not so good news.

So I have some good news.

jm40.substack.com

Hey there everyone. Thanks for being here.

So let’s cut right to the chase.

The good news is that my current employment seems like its going to continue to be a thing into the foreseeable future. Not only that, but the schedule seems to be staying exactly the same the whole way through. So I can expect to continue to get something between 17 and 20 hours a week there. Not much, but enough to get by; which is all I need ultimately. For now that is.

The maybe not so good news. Then back to some good news.

Those of you who may or may not have been going to my YouTube channel and checking out some of my videos on New World may have to wait a day or two here in the coming days for me to do some rearranging of things in my room (that I have been putting off forever) so I can properly do my streaming the way I intended from the get go. Which means I maaay need to buy a few more things to make it complete. That’s the not so good news part more-so than the needing to rearrange things bit. I’m sure many of you who give a damn at all can wait a day or two. (Though to be frank, I don’t think many of my viewers are coming from Substack right now, lol.)

Back to the good news.

I’m affiliated now. With who however is going to remain a surprise though, for one of the upcoming streams. Hopefully this works out well both for me and Mr. L, who has graciously allowed me on board his business venture via this affiliation. Of course I get a cut from the profit of any sales I manage to accrue for him. But those of you who buy through my link in the future, will get a 10% discount on any merchandise you buy through that link.

I do hope that goes over well, because I need it to, so I can keep supporting my streaming. Why?

Back to the not so good news.

If I can’t start getting this monetized in some way here in the coming months, I definitely am going to have to get a second job going to help make sure that my savings aren’t being depleted. That means even less time available for streaming, and I know for certain that with a full time job, or 2 part time jobs; I just AM NOT going to have the time or energy to do any streaming except on maybe the 1 to 2 days I will have off from time to time. And I mean it on the 1 to 2 days part, because it will probably be just 1 day off for each job if part time, cause the employers around here are stupid fucking criminals who don’t follow the law around here. They will go out of their way to own your soul, while paying you the least amount possible, and have you work as many days as possible; while having to pay you for the least amount of hours possible.

It’s fucking satanic how bad they are around here usually. Actually, it’s worse. Satan himself would pull a bloody Vlad the Impaler on these people and put them outside his front door as an ornament, just like Vlad used to. (I am not kidding at how bad some of these people are. And believe me when I say I could go on at length on this topic for a long time to come. Some of these people deserve to be put in jail and kept in ‘The Hole’.)

Back to Good news. Sorta.

Luckily, my current employers aren’t that bad in the slightest. So I lucked out with them. Maybe I can luck out with a 2nd job that has an employer who understands the need to actually have more than just 1 day off, sometimes even more than 2 some weeks. Or… maybe not. Perhaps I will continue to have 2-3 days off with my current employer, and only 1 - 2 days off with the other. Who knows.

What I do know though is that this affiliation bit needs to work out well for me.

So I am hoping that if some of you reading this don’t mind; please keep a look out for the upcoming blog post and video where I release the kraken… err… I mean… I release the affiliate link.

(For reals though, I would not be far off in saying that about 65% of all employers in my province, and other provinces, need to be put in jail; and all their profits/savings garnisheed and paid out to all past employees on a equal basis based upon their time worked in the past. I don’t normally say things like that. I normally am very much a ‘my property is mine alone and you can’t have it’ type of person. So let that be a way of understanding just how fucking serious I am here. They break so many labor laws and human rights codes, and other laws in this nation, that they are full on criminals without any defense possible.)

Anyways.

The final bit to add to all of this, is that it looks like I am starting to gain some level of traction on YouTube, and once I have my streaming setup operating properly, I can get some stuff happening with Twitch as well to hopefully pick things up even more. Between the two, with my affiliate status I just obtained through Mr. L, I should hopefully be able to pad my wallet with some extra cash each month. And if I can get enough cash to afford something like 300-400$ payments each month for a while, I can go get myself a REALLY nice video card. One that can handle everything I through at it, and then some. Perhaps two of them, so I can make use of the Nvenc Encoder. Or better yet… AV1.

So, we have some possible developments upcoming soon, that can help make my streams even better. Barring that last idea, I could also make use of that income to perhaps hire someone to help me make my stream better without having to rely on all the same 3rd party services that everyone else uses. (Cause you know, that’s Suuuuper original, using the same thing everyone else uses.)

But until then, I’ll be saving that extra income for a few months, to make sure my savings are growing first. I need them to get to somewhere in around the 10-15k mark, before I will feel comfortable. That’s basically what I need to get by in a year, all included. Once I am at that point, I’ll be comfortable enough to not worry about employment, and maybe even take a week off now and then to do special runs of certain games. Speaking of which.

Looks like my current employer doesn’t stay open during the holidays much, especially Christmas. And due to the way the holidays land this year, they also might not be staying open for the week between the 25th and New Years. So I might have myself a 13-14 day holiday from work coming up in December. Normally I wouldn’t much like this long a holiday, but since holiday stat pay will be in full force for that (hopefully) and I should still employed by then (ideally), I shouldn’t really be losing much if anything. This is wonderful for me as well, because so long as they don’t pull an ultimate shitty move and lay me off right on the 23rd, then I will basically be right on my 92nd day of working for them when we get back to work; which puts me past the 3 month probationary period by 2 days, and 2 months past the 1 month ‘trial’ they wanted to put me through first before deciding to keep me.

So I think my job is safe, and if I can make it through to that point, my job is ultra safe. After that point, they will need really dang good reasons to fire me, or let me go. In Canada, in basically every province, this rule stays pretty much the same. 3 month probation is the norm, unless agreed upon otherwise, specifically in writing. They already claimed 1 month is good enough for them, but I know that legally they have up to 3 months. So once we are past that 3 month period, I don’t have to worry as much about being let go suddenly. If they do after the 3 month period, I will have legal precedence.

I don’t believe this will be a problem. They seem like nice people, so far. But then… so did the other employers.

So that’s about it for all the good/bad news.

Now, back to our regular scheduled programing. More New World.

I’ll start doing video embeds again here soon as well as links to the streams here soon too. But… actually there is one last thing.

If I start doing that again, it’s going to be a bit of hassle writing a whole post for it each time. So those posts are literally going to be the shortest things ever. #Sorrynotsorry
